Extraordinary Taxes have come to stay - that is a fact. No one really believed the Greek Government when they said that measures are of a temporary nature and that fiscal balance will be restored quickly. This goes back to the year 2010. Then came the time when we were proud to announce that Greece will re-enter the markets to seek funding. And that announcement could have not been more pompous only to match the absurdity of the news. Instead of fighting the issue in its root, we still think that borrowing is the way to live our lives. We have depleated the people of their savings. We have stripped them off their belongings. We have taken away their hope for a better tomorrow and yet the recent news that George Papandreou is ready to save this country once more seems to administer new portions of the same idiocy really. The most alarming fact, however, is the fact that politicians live in their own little (or in fact not so little) cloud. They think that re-branding a tax buys them legitimacy, that puplic dialogue makes them more popular and credible, and that cheap marketing tacticts make them appear intelligent. They feel no reason for remorse and they have become power thirstier than ever. It really makes you wonder. Why would someone be so eager to become the Captain of the Titanic when the ship is already half sunken?
