This is a story in repeat, yet a lesson not learnt. All it takes to misguide a financially exhausted and overtaxed nation is to appear like a political Santa Claus around Christmas time and promise the impossible. The increase of pensions, the reduction in taxation, the abolishment of levies, the unilateral rescinding of our debt obligations towards the IMF, the European Bank and other institutions, the financial aid to the socially injured and disadvantaged - to cause a wave of mass hysteria, capable of diluting any notion of sanity and common sense. This is the cheap sell out of a dream with a double bottomed barrel and a monumental display of political opportunism. In the background of all this, the harshest battle ever. Two equally dangerous adversaries, each in his own domain, working opposite forces and contradicting agendas. On the one hand you have a party that is playing its last card on the verge of legality, attempting to bribe 20 MPs in order to retain power, and on the other hand, a political amateur and his entire court of political idiots, who grew arrogant enough to believe that they can take on political institutions like the EU and other superpowers and force them to their knees. It does not take a genius to predict the unhappy ending of this overweening experiment, which will be conducted at the detriment of the usual victim. Merry X-mas.
