National Pride - A Pricy Commodity to Some?

It is not only for the material part of the policy that was applied by our previous governments that put this nation in its current predicament. No, by all means, the true causes need to be searched within ourselves, who naively enough allowed those crafty politicians of the past to manipulate us with such ease. Many of us literally begged to be manipulated, if that meant easy money in our pockets and manufactured prosperity. How else would you explain the fact that citizens accepted unquestionably monies thrown at them without ever asking, why and how? You try the same with the Germans and please let me know, if that would work. And that game is a dangerous game because essentially you buy the sympathy of your voters instead of earning it. And this type of arrangement can only last for as long as you are able to support it financially. Even worse, once you stop financing it, there is no going back to the "Status Quo Ante", as you have subconsciously addicted a nation to rely on easy gain. And as it always happens in these types of situations there is eventually some new figure who comes around and with a more or less more patriotic approach tries to reverse all that evil and, as history has shown, sacrifices himself unknowingly in the end for a nonsense cause. Well, enough being said about that. As of January 26, 2015, a new dawn has risen for the Greeks, glimpses of which we have already seen. We have stirred and have shaken the foundations of Europe with our demands for the re-negotiation of a "new deal" in the last three days. We have elevated our diplomacy to involve more discussion parties, which we hope to leverage against each other with a view to cut the better deal. We have take actions to "defend our turf" with our neighbours in the East, showing them that there are no "grey-zones" on our geographical maps. We shall soon, proceed to officially declaring our EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) despite the fact that this constitutes a "Casus Belli" with our neighbours. I don't know about you guys -and with all common sense deducted from my next statement- but I feel good to see my national pride restored for a change and not trampled on again. Though I am slightly concerned about the bill, as well.
