A Nation Beyond Repair

Paul Mason's tweet today came as a megaton bomb to me but clearly offers the answer to the question why this nation has entered an irreversible course of decline. Apparently the ECB offered Samaras, while still in charge with running the State, a six months extension to the Troika programme, however, the latter, most probably knowing that he won't be re-elected on January 25, 2015, asked for only two months, thus tightening the screw for the newly elected Government who would take over. So once more, instead of bearing in mind what's best for the nation his last political actions were motivated by the personal power quarrel and vendetta with his successor in office. If what Paul Mason is writing is true I would demand to see some Investigative Committee looking into this matter and possibly proceeding to disciplinary and/or penal actions. With the newly elected Government being far too inexperienced, as it were, putting them under a time strain of this magnitude to achieve the impossible is only disproportionately increasing the chances of "trial and error". Anatole Kaletsky confirmed this view yesterday with his article published in the "Guardian", where he portrays Varoufakis as a man who is holding a gun against his own head and is asking Europe for ransom in order to not pull the trigger. With our political staff of academicians it is highly likely that they will confuse political arenas with college auditoriums and it is already obvious that they are addressing the political elite of Europe, as if they were students. How else would one explain the allegoric approach of Varoufakis every time he addresses the media or his counterparts. Correct me if I am wrong, but when was the last time in known history when an academician ate a politician for breakfast? Thought so. Well, has something fundamentally changed between never and now, so that we can expect a reversal of that outcome?
